Our History
Inertia Friction Welding (IFW), a division of SSD® Control Technology, Inc., was founded in 1994 with a focus on manufacturing friction welding and specialized machinery. In 2002, IFW merged with SSD®, combining their strengths to better serve the industry.
Today, IFW is recognized as a technology leader in inertia and friction welding, providing fast delivery, innovative control systems, user-friendly software, and outstanding service. We offer a complete range of friction welding equipment—including true friction, hybrid, and inertia systems—all engineered, manufactured, and supported from the same SSD® location.
Our combined expertise serves diverse industries such as automotive, aerospace, and vinyl manufacturing. IFW and SSD® are proud to hold several patents embodying their commitment to innovation and quality in friction welding technology.
